The New Cathedral

Built from this land's timber, by the people's own hands.

Since 2015 the people of Agats have been building a new cathedral in ironwood. Work resumed in 2025, and by June 2026 the main structure was complete. The roof and interior are now being finished in local Asmat timber.

    1. Work pauses for lack of funds.

    1. 2025
